Recipe

I know I said that I would do a recipe monthly, but I would like to do it more often! So here it goes;

This recipe cam out of a Goose Berry Patch recipe book for Church Suppers!

Roepke Family Casserole

Dana Roepke says:
"This is one of my family's favorites. My youngest daughter began making this when she was 7. She divided it into 2 casseroles, one for her grandparents and one for us! "

Ingredients:
1-1/2 lbs. ground beef
1c. oni0n, chopped
15-1/4 oz. can corn, drained
10-3/4 oz. can cream of chicken
10-3/4 oz. can cream of mushroom soup
8- oz. container sour cream
3/4 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper
3c. cooked extra wide egg noddles
1c. bread crumbs
3T. butter, melted
Directions:
Brown ground beef in large skillet over medium heat; add onion. Cook until tender; drain. Add corn, soups, sour cream, salt and pepper. Stir in noodles, spoon into a lightly greased 4-quart casserole dish. (13x9, that's what I used) Combine bread crumbs and melted butter in small bowl; sprinkle over top. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, or until golden. Serves 8 or 10. (For our church, it served a whole lot more)
If your church has an annual conference (or has meals ever Sunday), casseroles like Roepke Family Casserole are kid-friendly and so nice for sharing with families!

I made this for our church, and it was delicious!

Verse of the Week

Today's verse of the week is, all of Ruth! I know that's more than a couple of verse's, but you could NEVER get more than enough of God's wonderful word! I storngly suggest that you read it. I've been reading it this week, for my devotions. She was a VERY biblical woman. She is a virtues daughter-in-law. Next time you pick up your bible, read the book of Ruth! (As long as it's not in the middle of church :))

Ugh, I'm sick!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been sick. It's nothing serous like the Flu, or Pneumonia. It's just a soar throat, lots of sneezing, and a little fever. I HATE BEING SICK! I've gotten behind on my school work, chores, and blogging. I'm not the only one getting sick, my mom isn't like peaches and cream either! I'll try to post more.

Raining

It's raining it's pouring, the old man is snoring. He went to bed and bumped his head and didn't wake up in the morning! (I know a little childish.) Rain rain go away, has come to my mind the last couple of days! Although the rain is good for the gardens it's not good for people that want to go outside. We do have a garden (two if you count to flower garden). It's been raining for the past two days, and I'm ready for it to be over. I am hoping it will clear up soon! Especially considering tomorrow is Memorial Day!

Hurricane Ike

Wow! Ike was BIG! I thank God for keeping my family and I safe. I pray that He'll bless those that lost everything.

Wow

Sam:

"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened. But in the end it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding onto something."

Frodo:

"What are we holding on to, Sam?"

Frodo:

"That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for."

Wow! When all the bad things were going on, he (Sam) still had hope. What he said affected not only Frodo, but Gollum and Faramir aswell! What a wonderful Hobbit.

Biblical Femininity

Femininity! What is the definition of this word that our modern day world has turned aside?

"Femininity (also called womanliness) refers to qualities and behaviors judged by a particular culture to be ideally associated with or especially appropriate to women and girls"

This is the definition of femininity. What does our world say femininity is? Well, our culture has decided that being feminine is well, weird! That a woman should have the same strength and power of a man. I disagree. We, as female's, don't have the strength that a male has. For example: We don't have the strength to pick up a 50-80 pound box, when a man does. It's just the way God created us differently. A female can do things around the house that a male can't do, such as, organization skills. So, do I believe that male's and female's are created equally, no.
Though females aren't as strong as male's doesn't mean they are too delicate to work.

God designed male and female in his image! Let's not destroy what he created us to be.

Brother and Sister!

I LOVE the relationship Eowyn and Eomer had! There brother and sister relationship was incredible. He looked out for her like a father. They stayed together into there adulthood. I just don't know how to explain it, it's awesome! :)

Feminie Bravery!

I love how Arwen was brave in Lotr! She said to Aragorn "I do not fear them!" Her life was hanging by a thread and she said that. Wow! She stayed behind waiting for Aragorn to come back, when yet again, her fate was hanging by a thread! WOW! She looked the ringwraths in the face and said "If you want him, come and claim him!" Yet she remand feminine and gentle! That is true bravery! :)

Awarded!

Arwenal's Fate has awarded me with this award! Thank you so very much!

Eoywn and Arwen!

I resonantly finished watching The Lord of the Rings (extended version). I found that I like Eowyn more than I thought I did! I like Arwen and Eowyn equally. I like Arwen for things she did and Eowyn for things she did. There both my favorite!

Memorial Day!

Memorial Day! A honoring holiday. A day for us as American's to honor the veterans that gave their lives for their country! The rows and rows of veterans who gave their lives to protect us.
Here's a Memorial Day poem!

As we stand here looking
At the flags upon these graves
Know these flags represent
A few of the true American brave

They fought for their Country
As man has through all of time
Except that these soldiers lying here
Fought for your country and mine

As we all are gathered here
To pay them our respect
Let's pass this word to others
It's what they would expect

I'm sure that they would do it
If it were me or you
To show we did not die in vein
But for the red, white and blue.

Let's pass on to our children
And to those who never knew
What these soldiers died for
It's the least we can do

Let's not forget their families
Great pain they had to bear
Losing a son, father or husband
They need to know we still care

No matter which war was fought
On the day that they died
I stand here looking at these flags
Filled with American pride.

So as the bugler plays out Taps
With its sweet and eerie sound
Pray for these soldiers lying here
In this sacred, hallowed ground.

Take home with you a sense of pride
You were here Memorial Day.
Celebrating the way Americans should
On this solemnest of days.

Awards!

All Haldir fans can have this one!
All Jesus Freaks can have this one!
All homeschoolers can have this award!

Marissa has given these to who ever wants them. Hannon Le, Marissa!

Bee yourself!

The Lord our God, made us in his image. He wants us to bee ourselves and bee happy with who he created us to bee. It very much pleases Him when we are ourselves. How can we accomplish God's will for our life if we try to bee someone were not? I have tried to bee someone I'm not before, and my mom noticed that I was, and she told me that as long as I'm trying to bee someone I'm not I won't bee happy! She was absolutely right! :) When I started to bee myself I was happier. You can only bee you and that's all you can bee. Instead of striving to bee more like someone else, strive to be more like Jesus! Read his word and meditate on it day and night.

Awesome God!

I very much love this picture!! :) It is a cross in God's glorious creation. How amazing our God is to design such wonderful plants, and shape them to his liking. How wonderful he is to create flowers for us to enjoy, and to create bee's to make honey for our pleasure! Our God is an awesome God!

A Wonderful Book

My mom and I just started this book today, and boy is it good! Here's a summary of the book:

"More than a fill-in-the-blank Bible study, Raising Maidens of Virtue is an engaging tool for mothers to use in training daughters who are approaching womanhood to think biblically. Through stories, conversational teachings, illustrations, and memory-making projects, Raising Maidens of Virtue covers topics such as guarding the tongue, idleness, sibling relationships, honoring parents, contentment, modesty, purity, cleanliness, and feminine biblical beauty."
I strongly suggest the book!
In this chapter of Raising Maidens of Virtue it talked about The Fence Dwellers. Here is a summary of the chapter, The Fence Dwellers:

There once was a Gardener who had a gorgeous garden of flowers and herbs! His flowers were the most vibrant and healthy. One day the flowers by the fence saw the rocks on the other side and decided that they wanted to be strong like them and independent. So, these flowers ripped there gorgeous, vibrant petals off, and covered themselves with clay hoping to be like the stone. They totally rebelled against being a flower. When the other flowers saw this they began to do the same, except they didn't rip all there petals off. As time went on, the birds stopped nesting their, and the bee's and butterflies went elsewhere to find flowers for pollination. When the Gardener went into the garden he was very sad at what he saw. He asked the flowers why they had tried to be something they were not. They flowers near the fence didn't hear him though, because they had died. They other flowers heard him, and suddenly it began to rain and they were all happy to be made new and refreshed!

So, the fence dwellers died because they were trying to be something they weren't, while the others lived because they were happy for being what they were! Yes, the others did pull some of there petals off, but not all of them. You see, they were trying to "fit in" with the others. Romans 8:5-8 is a good example!
