Why I don't like Eowyn.
Here is the reason why I don't like Eowyn. She's a feminist. Yes, she wears dresses, but that doesn't matter. A women can wear all the dresses and skirts she want and still be a feminist. Why do I call her a feminist then? Well, she wanted to do a man's job. Instead of staying with the women and children she went off to fight with the men. She was going to be in charge while King Theoden was gone. What she said, went. She didn't know how to cook, and she certainly didn't know how to be feminine. Elvina from measures of grace commented and said a little poem;" While Arwen was pure in heart, Eowyn did nor know a woman's part." I very much agree with her. So, that's why I don't like Ewoyn.

Yeah, I don't think I could ever learn to like her. Oh, and I didn't make up the poem. Tolkien(the author of LotR) did.:)
i love eowyn! how she said," im not a man" almost broke my heart! not literally. i just think she's so AWESOME breaking the status quo and all. i think its great that she's a feminist. women have had their rights revoked for too long.
I agree!! Even before i thought about why i didn't like her, I still didn't like her, I have no idea why. Some times I thought she was ok, but I would take Arwen any day!
I think she is cool! Besides she isn't even real. Even Arwen fights...with a sword... in the movie! I think Eowyn is cool how she fights and all! Arwen is a little strange (in my opinion)
I don't agree with you and this is why... personally Eowyn is not my favorite either. I like her spirit but I think that sometimes she is wrong but that's ok... she's human...
I don't think being a feminist is altogether wrong. Women didn't have rights... Do you think it's wrong that we get to vote? All men are created equal... women included... I do not think that the feminists should take it to the excteem... saying that they aren't having rights if they can't have abortion... that is just taking another's right away. But I do not think of Eowyn in that way. She just feels trapped. Just because she wanted freedom doesn't mean she was bad. Arwen wanted her freedome also. Just as Arwen listened to her father but followed her heart so did Eowyn. She fought for his life... if that is not valar and bravery and if she does not deserve respect after that then I'll be! Arwen and Eowyn are totally different. It's like saying... I don't like humans because they sin... Jesus loved us and so we must love one another...
God Bless and sry for the long commment!!

I don't mind the long comment. I'm saying it's wrong for women to be working, to be in the military, etc. That's a mans job. Eowyn should have been taking care of the women and children of her land. God designed women to stay at home and do what a women is meant to do. He designed men to work for his family and protect them.
That is true, but you must remember that in the end Eowyn did decide that she did not want to live a man's life after all. She chose the womanly path of a healer, and Faramir's wife. (This is in the book, mind you.) So while she started out feminist, she did revoke that path.
