A Happy Heart
The fruit of the Spirit is..... joy.
Galatians 5:22
Though most of us don't want to here it, spiritual joy is revealed in the darkness of trial, tragedy, and testing. The blacker the background the greater our joy will sparkle! As a poet reflected, God "sets in pain the jewel of His joy."
Finding out more about Joy
Philippians is a sparkling little epistle of joy! Read it once and you'll find God's joy all over the place.
A Word from God's Word About Joy...
~Joy is important to Jesus- Before His crucifixion Jesus described the special relationship He would have with His disciples if they would abide in Him and His love. He ended by saying, "I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete." (John 15:11) Jesus wants us to have His wonderful joy.
~ Joy is an expression of godliness- You see, joy is a true sign of the presence of God in our lives. Put differently our joy is, "the joy of God passing through a Christian," "a joy whose foundation is God." As Children of God we have some great reasons to be joyful!
~ Joy is experienced anywhere and at any time- Philippians 4:4 tells us, we are to "rejoice in the Lord always." "In the Lord" means who we are joyful about. "always" means at anytime of the day and no matter where you are!
